STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENSTM: From the moment we first set eyes on the new Stormtrooper on JakkuTM, the facade of its newly formed chin, single vocoder/aerator, and nose bridge were striking and, naturally, very exciting for any Stormtrooper fan. Not to be outdone, the body of armor was equally enhanced to be a true reimagining and upgrade from the classic stormtrooper armor.
Beginning in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDITM, slight feature changes in the helmet were introduced, notably:
Nose Change: The most distinctive change is the nose plate between first and later movies. The nose plate goes from a soft curvature to a sharper peak.
Teeth Addition: In the later movies, extensions under the nose plates (teeth) were added atop the honey-comb plate, evoking similar aesthetic features from the classic stormtroopers and clone troopers. Additionally, the nose plate was altered for a menacing “facial expression,” allowing the “teeth” to be emphasized.
Vocoder/Aerator Change: The sculpt changed entirely, with the aerator being adjusted to become more prominent from its extrusion point in the STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDITM variation.
Chin Change: The bottom curvature of the chin generally changed to become more defined, in order to accentuate the face plate changes. This change allows the Stormtrooper to become more haughty, if the trooper’s blaster and tactical ability weren’t already sufficient for the task.
Helmet Clips Change: The helmet clips lost some detailing in the head buckle portion, becoming a smooth face.
